Super Mario, Harry Potter and the cast of Peanuts, oh my!
Teachers and staff at Armstrong Elementary in FBISD hosted their annual Trunk of Treat for the school and community just before Halloween. Although rain forced the fun inside, students and families played games and won candy at booths set up around the school’s main hallway. As they neared the cafeteria, however, there was one area different than past years.
Eleventh and twelfth grade National Honor Society members from Logos Prep Academy in Sugar Land had turned the cafeteria into a fun zone! They led excited “trunk or treaters” in arts and crafts along with games like corn hole, pin the scar on Harry Potter theme, face painting, candy tic tac toe and more. The younger kids were enamored with the presence and attention of the older students. Addie Delahoussye, the NHS sponsor commented that while they had come with the intention of serving the younger kids, she saw smiles on the faces of 17 and 18 year olds that she hadn’t seen in years.
The time together and shared experience were exactly what makes Reverb so special. The community was served, kids felt loved, but beyond that, generations were shaped when young people from different backgrounds spent time together.
